MicroLife Brown Patch
MicroLife Brown Patch is what organic gardeners should be using to fertilize their lawns for the fall season. It is specifically formulated to not only feed the grass and soil but to help prevent lawn fungus, such as brown patch, from occurring. DO NOT use if you have an active fungus.
Rye Grass Seed
SOS 400 Rye grass seed is an annual hybrid variety. It establishes quicker, easier to maintain, and holds up better to foot traffic. Rye grass seed spreads at a rate of 10 lb per 1,000 square feet. Temperatures should be around 80 degrees during the day for optimal germination. Make sure not to use a pre-emergent herbicide or the seeds will not germinate.
Corn Gluten Meal
Corn Gluten is used as an organic ‘weed and feed’. It will keep the cool season weed seeds from germinating while also giving the lawn a small amount of nitrogen to keep it green and strong. Corn Gluten comes in 40 lb bags that cover 4,000 square feet or in a liquid hose end spray that will cover 1,000 square feet.
MicroGro & Revitalize
Either of these products works as a preventative fungicide BUT they can also be used to treat an existing fungus organically. MicroGro is a granular application which covers roughly 450 square feet and Revitalize is a liquid that must be diluted with water, using a hose end spraying, and applied to the infected area and the area around the fungus.
Randy Lemmon Fall Fertilizer Schedule
For those that follow R. L. lawn schedule right now is the time for the Fall Special fertilizer along with the Barricade Pre-emergent or you could use the 2-in-1 Weed Beater Complete, this will kill and prevent weeds. If fungus is an issue in your lawn we carry the Nitro Phos Eagle turf fungicide, DO NOT fertilize until fungus is under control.
