Compost Tea
This is one type of Texas tea you’re going to want to pass along to your garden. We pride ourselves on making fresh Compost Tea that our gardeners swear by.
Compost tea is best described as a solution that is created by mixing compost and water. It is not an all-organic product, but rather it is made from organic materials. This mixture of water and compost allows the microorganisms to grow and multiply in the compost tea blend. Vegetation grows much faster when using these microbes in your garden because they increase the number of nutrients and feed the plants even while they are still growing.
Our Buchanan’s blend is made by mixing water, compost, molasses, seaweed and other organic additives. Try it out today by stopping by the Plant Care shed!
Let’s Talk About Mulch
As summer approaches and the temperatures climb, you’ll need to think about your mulch. Mulch is often not on the top of your list of things to do when planning a garden, but it should be. Here are some great benefits of using mulch during the summer time that will convince you!
- Helps Retain Moisture- Mulch helps alleviate water loss through evaporation. This effectively helps cut down on watering, and keeps your soil from drying out before you can get out in the garden to give your plants a drink of water.
- Acts as a Barrier- Mulch protects from weeds and the heat of the sun! Think of it as a protective layer. Applying mulch makes it harder for weeds to sprout through and disrupt the flow of your garden. It also acts as insulation for your plants!
- Fills the Gaps– Another reason we love mulch is for the simple fact that it can help elevate the look of your beds. There’s no debate that summer can sometimes limit your options as far as plant selections go. Add mulch to bare spots to help with the aesthetic aspect that comes with summer beds!
